The U.S. Senate is considering estate tax repeal or reform proposals tantamount to repeal from a federal revenue and a business standpoint. The repeal advocates have canvassed the Hill in the past months, seeking to bolster support for their cause. We are told constantly by Hill staff that they don’t hear from constituents on the “other side?of the issue ?constituents who are in favor of permanent, sustainable estate tax reform. Don’t let repeal advocates be the only voice Senators hear!
Please contact your Senator TODAY to oppose estate tax repeal and fiscally irresponsible estate tax reform. You can reach your Senator by calling the U.S. Senate Switchboard at 202-224-3121. In addition, we have attached a letter that you can send to your Senator. Because of mail security measures on Capitol Hill, we suggest that you personalize and then fax this letter to your Senator using the contact information below.
Time is of the essence. Recently, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) filed an amendment to repeal the estate tax, and Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) filed an amendment to set the estate tax exemption at $10 million and tie the top rate to capital gains. The vote could happen at any point between now and August, most likely sometime in July. We support reasonable, sustainable and permanent estate tax reform that excludes the vast majority of Americans from estate tax liability, while allowing the remaining few to plan with certainty and without adding significantly to the burgeoning federal deficit.
